Gen V is full of cool superheroes at Godolkin University, but their powers aren’t all the same. From flying to shrinking, every student at this fallen school has a unique set of abilities.
But which students are the strongest? And could any of them beat Homelander? Here’s how the new Supes at God U rank by power level.
1. Marie Moreau
Gen V, the Amazon spin-off series that launched alongside The Boys, introduced a slew of dangerous new superhumans, and not all are equal. The series centers around students at Godolkin University, a corrupt institution where power levels are secretly rankled and the school’s nefarious head Cipher encourages supes to push themselves beyond their limits in order to achieve top ranking.
The lead of the show, Jaz Sinclair’s Marie Moreau, has blood manipulation powers that offer her unparalleled versatility. She can manipulate her own blood into blades and other weapons for offensive attacks, and she also possesses limited super-strength, durability, and regenerative healing abilities.
This makes Marie the strongest supe in the entire universe, easily outranking Golden Boy (whose tragic death removed him from contention) and Cate Dunlap, who ranks third with her dangerous mind control abilities. But, unlike her cohorts, Marie’s nascent death-defying powers come with some severe physical drawbacks — like nosebleeds and headaches if she uses them too much.
2. Luke Riordan
If The Boys pushed superhero chaos into new heights, Gen V is even more insane. Gen V reveals the seedy underbelly of Godolkin University, home to college-aged students injected with Compound V as babies. These supes, from Marie’s blood-slinging terror to Emma’s size-altering mightiness, are trained at the school to become Vought’s top superhero crown jewels.
This unsettlingly violent supe has the ability to enter people’s minds and control their actions. The ability to take away a person’s free will and make them his puppet makes Rufus one of the most dangerous supes in The Boys universe.
Despite his death in the first season finale, Andre Anderson deserves a mention for his razor-sharp metal-bending powers. Like Magneto-lite, he can twist car frames like paper and yank hidden weapons from statues with ease. He also has a healing factor that could rival Kimiko’s.
3. Cate Dunlap
Cate Dunlap is one of the most powerful Supes on Gen V. She is a student at Godolkin University, and a former girlfriend of Golden Boy. She has a power that gives her superhuman durability and hearing (like all supes, she can hear frequencies that humans cannot), along with the ability to heal quickly.
Her power resembles that of Rogue from X-Men, and her initial fear and relationship with it resembles Jean Grey and Emma Frost. Her powers are very lethal, and she can kill a normal human with just one touch. However, extended use can cause migraines and nosebleeds for her, so she doesn’t use them often.
Jordan’s dual-gender shapeshifting is a unique and effective power. She can shrink down to insect-level size or shoot up into a giantess mode. However, her power doesn’t fully allow her to dominate large-scale battles. This is why she ranks lower on this list than the likes of Sweaty Supe and Maverick.
4. Sam Riordan
Sam Riordan, the schizophrenic supe who was rescued from The Woods by Cate, is easily one of the most dangerous in Gen V. He possesses incredible strength, which is augmented by his ability to see other people as puppets (an effect that may have stemmed from Compound V or the experiments he was subjected to at Godolkin University).
His weakness lies in his instability. He is prone to hallucinations and frequently lashes out in the wrong situations, putting him at high risk of causing harm. He also lacks precision in his use of his powers, as evidenced by his unsettling blood-whip abilities.
His other weak point is his vulnerability to electricity. It only takes a few hits to leave him unconscious, and even a small amount of electrical force can stun him. He can also be pinched down or restrained with significant force, as demonstrated when Andre pinned him down during his escape attempt from Godolkin University.
5. Ryan Riordan
With his clone ability and super strength, Ryan Riordan makes the list as a potential threat to The Seven. However, he’s also just a kid and has yet to really master his powers. Still, he’s the biological son of Homelander and boasts all of the same abilities, meaning that if he puts in the time, he could eventually outstrip The Boys leader.
Gen V takes the superhero chaos of The Boys to a whole new level with college-aged Supes at Godolkin University who were injected with Compound V as kids. While they all have incredible powers, some are more useful than others.
Cate Dunlap’s power to hypnotize people and control them with a touch may seem useless, but her rank at the top is due in part to the fact that she can go toe-to-toe with other high-ranking supes like Brink. The same goes for Rufus, who uses his psychic abilities to hypnotize and manipulate people into being his puppets.
6. Rufus
Although he’s not the strongest supe in Gen V, Rufus is undoubtedly one of the most dangerous. His powers allow him to hypnotize people, taking away their free will and making them his puppets. He uses this power for the wrong reasons in Gen V, making him one of the most disturbing and dangerous characters in the spinoff.
Maddie Phillips plays Cate Dunlap in Gen V, and her abilities make her scary just in concept. With a single touch, she can control a person’s memories and emotions. She’s used this to wipe someone’s memory and convince a bouncer to let her into a club, but she’s also abused her powers in more serious situations.
Andre Anderson’s metal-bending powers made him a formidable force in Godolkin, but his lack of precision and consistent use kept him at the bottom of this list. Plus, he got nosebleeds and dizziness whenever he pushed his powers too hard.
